Every summer, UTSA hosts Camp Durango for children aged 5 and up diagnosed with
or at risk for autism, along with their siblings. The camp is held in the Durango building
at the UTSA downtown campus.
Camp Durango is a grant-funded research project at The University of Texas at San
Antonio. Campers participate in various research projects led by UTSA faculty and staff.
These studies are integrated into fun, summer day camp activities, focusing on
enhancing social communication, adaptive skills, leisure skills, and addressing
challenging behaviors.
I have the opportunity to visit this year and will share my insights soon. In the meantime,
you can learn more about Camp Durango at https://www.abautsa.com/camp.html.
